Hey All, hope everyone is having a nice day today. I work in a data center where we are currently replacing about 12,000 sticks of rams in some of our servers, so have a photo of a bin of ram for your time.

Is this RAM Ryzen-compatible?
Can it run Chrome?

First week, first real job, I was tasked to install RAM in a Sparc server.
The RAM cost more than I did, and I’d never done it before. Listening to that grinding noise as I installed it made me think it might just be my last week at that job.

When I was working on my PC earlier in the week, I remembered how satisfying it is to click those RAM sticks into place.
That satisfaction probably wears off after a dozen sticks when you realize you need to do one thousand dozens.

Seems like a lot of work? Maybe it would be more efficient to burn down the datacenter and build a new one?

Let’s not ask the impossible, there’s only 12,000 sticks.

Cheers. Keeping all the things running is helping the most people possible stay at home. Next time there’s a recognition event at your work, I hope the infrastructure folks get all the love.
